PatchCam — Privacy Policy
PatchCam is a camera effects app by Jascha Süss. It is built so that nothing you make with it leaves your phone unless you choose to send it somewhere.
What the app does with your camera and microphone
Camera. PatchCam turns the live camera image into visual effects on your screen. All processing happens on the phone, in real time. Frames are not stored, analysed for content, or sent anywhere.
Microphone. The microphone is only used while you record a clip with “Record microphone” enabled, and only to add an audio track to that clip.
Depth / LiDAR. Some effects use the depth sensor for their look. Depth data is used on the phone for that frame only and is not stored.
What the app stores
Clips and snapshots you record are saved to your own Photos library. You control them from there; PatchCam keeps no copy.
Settings (your effect parameters and rig preferences) are stored locally on the phone.
Diagnostics. The app keeps a local log file and Apple’s MetricKit diagnostics inside its own sandbox to help diagnose problems. These stay on the device; they are never uploaded by the app.
NDI® output
If you enable NDI output, the live effect is streamed over your local network to NDI receivers you choose (for example TouchDesigner, Resolume or OBS). This only happens while the toggle is on, only on the network your phone is connected to, and the stream is not routed through any server of ours.
What we do not do
No accounts, sign-ups or user profiles.
No analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs or trackers.
No collection of personal data, location, contacts or identifiers.
No data sold or shared with third parties.
Purchases
PatchCam Pro is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any of your devices.
Crash reports and App Store analytics
If you have chosen in iOS Settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with anonymised crash reports and aggregated usage statistics through App Store Connect. This is controlled by Apple and by your device settings, not by PatchCam, and contains no content from your camera.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date.
